Be Worthy Of The Wages You Are Paid
It is Friday and most of us are ready for our weekend to begin, but we still have one more 8 hour shift to get through. Some employees look at Friday as the day they need to hustle and get their desk caught up, so they will start out fresh on Monday morning.
Others choose to wade through Friday watching the clock wishing 5 o’clock would hurry up. They pace their work, producing very little for the 8 hours that they are getting paid for.
There is work productivity studies that have been done that show as each day of the work week passes many employees become less and less productive.
I have witnessed this where I work and also have been guilty myself of not being as productive on Friday as I was on Monday. When you think about this, it is very unfair to the employer who pays the same hourly wage and is getting less for their money at the end of the week.
Instead of looking at the work week as Monday through Friday (or whatever your work week is) maybe we should look at each day individually as a new work day.
Let’s forget the “I cannot wait until the end of the week.” Instead each day is a new opportunity to do the best work possible and possibly accomplish more than the day before.
We just need to think about things a bit differently. Approaching workdays this way will not only make our employer happier, but we also will be happier and in a better frame of mind when our weekly break from work comes around.
We are getting paid to do our best each hour we are at work, don’t short change your employer. We are at work anyway, let’s make a difference each day in the best way.
“The difference between what we do, and what we are capable of doing, would solve most of the world’s problems.” ~ Mahatma Gandhi
