Acts Of Kindness At Work
It is the little things we do that can make a big difference to others. A smile, a thank you, a card or a call to let someone know you care in some way.
Last week I was having a difficult time, being in what I call “the waiting room” regarding important information that I was waiting to hear about.
One of my coworkers knew that I was having an especially difficult day and that I needed to arrive an extra hour early the next day to see a patient before hours with the doctor.
At the end of the day, she approached me and asked if I would like her to come in early so I would not have to. I thanked her and let her know that I would be there.
The more I thought about her act of kindness toward me the more it touched my heart. She cared enough about me, her coworker, to step up and offer to step in to help when I was having a tough day.
The next morning on my way into the office I stopped and picked up a bouquet of flowers and when my coworker arrived I presented them to her along with a tearful thank you.
She was surprised and stated she was happy to make the offer. I told her it is the little random acts of kindness that set us apart from the rest and she was a perfect example.
Take the time to look, listen and ask yourself “What random act of kindness can I do today?”
